A large shrub or small evergreen tree with beautiful, cinnamon-coloured bark and masses of small white flowers throughout summer and autumn. The Chilean myrtle makes an eye-catching specimen plant that always attracts attention and admiration. It grows well by the seaside, and also in a woodland setting, where it can spread by seed. Its evergreen leaves are small and glossy and it has small white flowers in late summer. A fast-growing and vigorous plant, Chilean myrtles can reach a height and spread of 10m when mature. Leaves are pleasantly scented when crushed. Irish grown, 60-80cms plants in a 5 litre container.
