Fagus sylvatica 'Purpurea'

Copper beech (bare root 60-90cms)

Price: €3.95

The copper beech is the same as the green beech, but with dark purple foliage. In the autumn and winter both the green and the copper beech look the same. Beech makes an exceptionally hardy hedge and, although deciduous, keeps its leaves for most of the winter. It should be kept clipped and this can be done once a year in late summer. Beech is tolerant of most soil types and conditions, including seaside conditions, but it does not like waterlogged soil, where hornbeam may be a similar alternative.
