This is a most unusual and sought-after tree. It is noted for its large white bracts - hence the common name of 'Handkerchief tree' - which appear in late spring. When these bracts are on the tree it makes an impressive sight, though it can take up to ten years to flower. This tree requires a relatively sheltered position in the garden and prefers moist but well-drained soil in sun or light shade. It can grow to 15 m. Best grown as a specimen tree. 200cms tall plants in a 7.5 litre container. (M)
