'Merveille Sanguine' mophead hydrangea, Hortensia
This sought after hydrangea has intense, deep red flowers, occasionally turning to a luxuriant purple on very acid soils. Leaves are course, maroon tinged, getting darker as the year progresss. Plant in full sun or light shade in well-drained but moist soil with plenty of organic matter. As with most hydrangeas, prune off last year's flowers in late spring, and cut back approximately one third of shoots to ground level at this time if the plant requires rejuvenation. 2L container, 25/30 cms tall plants.
