Price: €8.95

A dense upright evergreen large shrub or small tree, native to Chile and Argentina, with deep red shoots and glossy, attractive, peppery, aromatic foliage. It bears many creamy white flowers in late winter and early spring which are jasmine-scented, and has attractive red-brown bark. The foliage and bark can be dried, and processed: it is traditionally used as both a pepper substitute and source of Vitamin C in Chile, Argentina and Brazil. To get a sense of how peppery it is, snap off a leaf and suck on it! Plant in fertile, moist, well-drained soil, sun to light shade. Height: attaining up to 6m in ideal conditions. 4-5ft plant in a 7.5-10L container. Please note, items displayed on this website may not be available in each of our shops.  (A)
