A rare  and unusual tree for the small- medium garden or for a container. A columnar variety of a tree once thought to be extinct in the wild, but now known to grow in at least two small areas in Zhejiang province in Eastern China. Often referred to as a 'living fossil' in that it has remained fundamentally the same over 270 million years. It grows in a columnar habit to be a small-medium-sized tree with interesting, bright green leaves which give a great golden display in autumn. Ginkgos prefer a relatively sheltered spot, out of strong winds, with well-drained, moist soil. They cope well with pollution and city conditions, and are planted as a street tree in many countries. The columnar habit of this variety makes it perfect for growing in pots in smaller gardens. 3-5 litre container/ 120-140cm tall.
