A rare  and unusual tree for the medium-sized garden or for a container. A most distinguished tree, once thought to be extinct in the wild, but now known to grow in at least two small areas in Zhejiang province in Eastern China. Often referred to as a 'living fossil' in that it has remained fundamentally the same over 270 million years. It grows to be a medium-sized tree with interesting, fan shaped bright green leaves which give a great golden-yellow display in autumn and grow in a distinct columnar shape. Ginkgos prefer a relatively sheltered spot, out of strong winds, with well-drained, moist soil. They cope well with pollution and city conditions, and are planted as a street tree in many countries. The female trees can have an unpleasant scent, leading many people to prefer the male clones, like 'Princeton Sentry'. 3ft tall plants in a 3L container.
